I refer to your official information request received 28 February 2023 relating to donations by either Operation
People or Chantelle Baker. This response was due no later than 28th March 2023 and unfortunately due to the
national state of emergency response you can appreciate the pressures on our small council and our Mayor
during this period.
Our response below:
1. Could you please disclose the donation made to The Mayoral Relief Fund for Cyclone Gabrielle by
Chantel e Baker or her organisation Operation People.
In accordance with s7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 council
would not disclose the donation of any individual, to protect the privacy of natural persons, and
s7(2)(b)(i ) of the same Act, council would not disclose the donation of any organisation.
The Give-a-Little page has a list of donors identified unless the donor chooses to be anonymous. This list
is public knowledge and accessed via https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/wairoa-flood-mayoral-relief-fund-
cyclone-gabrielle .
2. Can you please disclose all communication between Chantel e Baker & Mayor Craig Little regarding a
donation of water to Wairoa.
Our Mayor received numerous messages for donated goods during the national state of emergency for
Cyclone Gabrielle but no one identified as Chantelle Baker or Operation People.
