You are seeking women board member, may I ask since you have put up the ad how many
application you have received and how many you have shortlisted for interview.
Also, what is your term of reference for the position you are advertising.”

Response to your OIA Request
In response to your OIA request outlined above, we advise that the advertisement that you are
requesting information about is for self-identified women who have or wish to make themselves
available for board roles in the Play, Active Recreation and Sport sector. Sport NZ established this
sub-set of directors in response to its
National Policy for Gender Equity in Governance and the target
set within that Policy for a minimum of 40% self-identified women on qualifying boards. This is a
permanent advertisement to ensure the pool of potential women directors is regularly refreshed.
There is no guarantee of a role. Rather it allows boards who are seeking directors, in this instance
women, to search the database as they form their long list of candidates.
As such we are refusing your request under section 18(d) as the information requested does not
exist.
Please note that if you are not satisfied with this response, you have the right to make a complaint
to the Ombudsman under section 28(3) of the OIA. Information about how to contact the
Ombudsman is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or you can phone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
