Dear AP

Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
Auckland Plan 2050

I refer to your request for information, which we receveid 02 February 2023, about the
Auckland Plan 2050.
Details of your request and our response is below.
“Dear Auckland Council,

I have read the Auckland Plan 2050. I am writing to request information regarding the
statements:

“Flooding is common”
“Auckland is remote”
“People feel isolated”
“Helensville returns to its estuarine nature”
“New islands form in the Gulf”
“Auckland has been redrawn”

Please provide research and communication on how it was known in 2018 (when the plan
was published) that flooding would become common in Auckland.

If you know that Helensville will be hit, why are residents not urged to leave now?

It seems ironic that flooding is happening when the Three Waters Reform is being pushed.

Also ironic that in 2022 the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and WHO practiced for a
pandemic where children are targeted and it is a virus that travels in contaminated water”

The statements in your information request are included in a section of the Auckland Plan
2050 which describes a number of different scenarios of what the future might look like in
Auckland. There is no specific research or communication that relates to these scenarios.
They are based in general on the vast body of climate science that has been widely
available for decades predicting, among other things, sea level rise and intensified rainfall as
a result of climate change.
