Thank you for your email of 13 January 2023 requesting the fol owing information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
I am requesting information about the status of State Highway 38 between Wairoa and 
Aniwaniwa Falls. Google Maps shows it as having been revoked by virtue of the missing 
markings to show it is a state highway. 
I am not able to find any other information either confirming or denying that SH38 has been 
revoked or not anywhere else. 
Are you able to confirm the status of State Highway 38? 
 
While the section of road through Te Urewera (between Murupara and Lake Waikaremoana) has been 
revoked as a state highway in previous years, I can confirm that the status of the road between Wairoa 
and Aniwaniwa Fal s has not changed and is stil  State Highway 38.
