Transfer of Official Information Act request: Costs for court cases

Thank you for your email of 10 January 2022, regarding an Of icial Information Act request, for
information concerning costs incurred from court cases. Specifically, you requested:

1)  What is the cost to date for these prosecutions in the NZ Court System?
2)  What is the budgeted cost for 2023 to continue with the remaining charges?

You were advised on 11 January 2023 that the New Zealand Police would be responding to
question 1 of your request as the subject matter is believed to be more closely aligned with the
Police. As such this part of your request was transferred to the Police for response.

On 26 January 2023, the Police have also accepted question 2 from your original request. We
have therefore transferred your request in full to the New Zealand Police. The subject matter to
which your emails relate is believed to be more closely connected with the functions of the Police.
You wil  hear further from Police in due course.

You have the right under section 28(3) of the Act to complain to the Ombudsman about the
decision to transfer your request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by emailing
[email address].
