[FYI request #21512 email]
Tēnā koe Rose
Thank you again for your email of 9 January 2022 requesting information on overcrowding and fires in
Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities properties. Kāinga Ora is considering your request under the
Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), and a response was due to you today (13 February 2023).
With regard to your request, we are extending the timeframe for providing you with a response to
Monday 13 March 2023. This extension is made in accordance with section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA,
‘
consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that, under the present
circumstances, a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit’.
Please note that we will endeavour to provide you with a response as soon as possible within this
extended timeframe.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act to make a complaint to the Ombudsman about this
extension.
We note that you have not responded to our invitation of 3 February 2023 to clarify if the information
you are seeking in the below parts of your requests relates to the public housing wait list managed by
the Ministry of Social Development, or to the Kāinga Ora internal transfer register:
how many tenants on the Kainga Ora housing waiting list in 2020 and 2021 turned down a
property or demanded a larger home.
For Intergenerational families wanting to live together are all adults interviewed or carefully
considered as to whether they are eligible to be housed by Kainga Ora.
If you would like to clarify these parts of your request, I invite you to email Kāinga Ora at
[email address] by Friday 16 February 2023.
Ngā mihi
