Official Information Act request: [Luke] King Charles III coronation medal 
 
Thank  you  for  your  Official  Information  Act  request  received  on  3  January  2023.  You 
requested: 
 
“Will the Government release a separate King Charles III’s coronation medal 
for New Zealanders. 
 
In an FYI request in 2021, it was said that the decision as to whether New 
Zealand would issue its own medal is for the Prime Minister. So what is the 
Prime Minister's take on this matter” 
 
The Prime Minister Rt Hon Chris Hipkins has not yet considered this matter. Once a 
decision has been reached, we will write to you again to let you know.  
 
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under 
section 28(3) of the Act. 
 
We do not intend to publish this response on the Department of the Prime Minister and 
Cabinet’s website.
