I refer to your request for information dated 18 December 2022 made under the Official Information 
Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to entry to the 2023 Bachelor of 
Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) programme at the University of Otago via the Health 
Sciences First Year (HSFY) General category. 
 
Further to our email of 22 December 2022, please see below our response to your request. 
 
1.  The minimum average score to receive a first-round offer to the 2023 MB ChB  
 
The minimum average academic score to meet the first-round cut-off for entry to the 2023 MB 
ChB programme via the HSFY General category was 93.86. 
 
2.  The minimum, median and maximum average scores to be on the waitlist for the 2023 MB 
ChB programme via the HSFY General category 
 
Please see the below table which shows the minimum, median and highest average academic 
scores to receive an offer to be on the waitlist for the 2023 MB ChB programme via the HSFY
