I refer to your information request dated 7 December 2022 made under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act). You have requested various grade breakdowns in relation to the 2022 MICN201 
programme. 
 
How many students failed, passed and achieved distinction for MICN201 2022 
 
Subject to the following comments, please note the below table which shows the breakdown of final 
student results in MICN201 2022. 
 
•  results are correct as at 30 November 2022. 
 
•  students who withdrew from MICN201 are excluded from the data.

Breakdown of results from each of the subject modules as well as overall performance for 
the written component of MICN201a, b and c (incl both SAQ and MCQ performance) which 
how many students achieved each grade (fail, achieve, merit and excellence) 
 
Staff in the Otago Medical School produce a report each year that contains the information you have 
requested for this part of your request. This report is made available to students. The report 
containing information for the 2022 MICN201 programme will not be finalised until April or May 
2023. Staff do not have the capacity to complete this report any earlier, and asking them to produce 
the report now would cause an unreasonable and significant impact on their ability to carry out 
other critical operations. On that basis, this part of your request is declined pursuant to section 18(f) 
of the Act as the information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. 
 
If you were a student in MICN201 in 2022, the report will be made available to you in April or May 
this year. If you are not a student, or were not enrolled in MICN201 in 2022, we would be happy to 
consider a new Official Information Act request closer to the time. Alternatively, if there is a 
particular module you are interested in, please let us know, as staff may be able to provide you the 
information sooner.
