I refer to your official information request, which was transferred from Manatū Hauora (the 
Ministry of Health) to Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand on 24 November 2022, for the 
following: 
“Please provide the number of all cause deaths from 2016-2022 broken down by 
month and age group. I'd also like the number of births for the same period broken 
down by month. I'm sure NZ logs Births and Deaths with regularity so it should be 
an easy find, if not, please point me to the right agency.” 
This correspondence is to advise you that we have transferred your request in full to 
Statistics New Zealand. This is because the information to which your request relates is 
believed to be more closely connected with the functions of Statistics New Zealand. In 
these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the Official Information Act to
