Request for information 
Thank you for your Of icial Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 12 November 
2022, in which you requested the following: 
Transcript of the emergency call relating to the death of the 20-year-
old male in Christchurch 
This matter is currently before the Coroners Court and information held by the 
Coroners Court is exempt from the OIA under section 2(6)(a). Therefore this 
request is refused under the following sections of the OIA:  
- s6(c): as the making available of the information is likely to prejudice the
maintenance of the law including the prevention, investigation and detection of
offences and the right to a fair trial
- s9(2)(a): there is a need to protect the privacy of persons, including that of
deceased natural persons.
Police considers the interests requiring protection by withholding the information 
are not outweighed by any public interest in release of the information. 
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision if you are not 
satisfied with the response to your request. Information about how to make a
