I refer to your information request dated 2 November 2022 made under the Official Information Act 
1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to the University’s Bachelor of Radiation 
Therapy (BRT) programme from 2019 – 2021. 
 
We note we contacted you 7 November 2022 to clarify your request. At the time we asked you 
whether you were interested in receiving the information for applicants entering the BRT 
programme in 2019 – 2021 or for applicants applying for the BRT programme in 2019 – 2021. We 
also asked which category you were interested in receiving the information for. Your response of 7 
November confirmed that you were interested in receiving the information for applicants entering 
the BRT programme in 2019 – 2021, and that you were interested in receiving the information for all 
admissions categories to the programme. 
 
Subject to the following comments, see below our responses to each of your questions. 
 
•  Your request was for a large quantity of information (3 years of information for each 
admissions category), and we would have been likely to either propose a charge or decline 
your request pursuant to section 18(f) of the Act as it would require substantial staff time to 
research and collate the information. However, as stated in your email dated 7 November, 
you were most interested in receiving the information for the One Year of University Study 
and the Two or More Years of University Study admissions categories. This was practically 
manageable for our staff to research and collate. Therefore, for the purposes of this 
response, we have provided the information for the One Year of University Study and the 
Two or More Years of University Study admissions categories. 
 
•  As well as meeting the entrance requirements, all applicants to the BRT programme, 
regardless of admissions category, must provide a statement of interest and current 
curriculum vitae. Successful applicants must have also undertaken a Radiation Therapy 
interview, achieving a threshold level determined annually by the Radiation Therapy 
Admissions Committee. It is important to note that an applicant’s GPA score will not alone 
determine the outcome of their application – applicants are selected based on their 
interview score, statement of interest, curriculum vitae, and GPA score.

Subject to the following comment, please see the below tables which shows the highest and 
minimum GPA scores to receive offers to the 2019 – 2021 BRT programmes via the One Year of 
University Study General and Two or More Years of University Study General categories. 
 
•  It is the University’s standard practice to not report on marks or GPA scores which relate to 
fewer than five individuals where we consider that such disclosure could affect an 
individual’s privacy and wellbeing. Where the numbers are very low, there is a risk that the 
identity of these individuals could be determined/inferred, and that their personal 

information (i.e. their GPA scores) could be revealed. As there were fewer than five 
applicants to receive offers through the One Year of University Study General category from 
2020 – 2021, and fewer than five applicants to receive offers through the Two or More Years 
of University Study General category from 2019 – 2021, we withhold this information 
pursuant to section 9(2)(a) of the Act. We do not consider that the reasons for withholding 
this information are outweighed by other considerations which would make it desirable in 
the public interest to make the information available.
