Information Request –Callouts to Naenae College 2012-22
I refer to your official information request dated 1 November 2022 asking for information about
callouts to Naenae College over the last ten years.
Your request has been assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act
1982 (Act). Fire and Emergency New Zealand’s response to your request is set out below.
1. How many callouts have there been to Naenae College located in Nelson in the past 10 years
(2012-2022)
Between 1 November 2012 and 1 November 2022, there were 106 callouts to Naenae College.
2. How much has this cost the school (considering most callouts would be false alarms).
Fire and Emergency New Zealand has not charged for false alarms since it was established in 2017.
However, there may be some costs prior to our establishment. We are notifying you of an
extension of the time to make our decision regarding this aspect of your request, to 9 December
2022. The reason for the extension is that the consultations necessary to decide on your request
are such that they cannot reasonably be made in the original timeframe. If you no longer require
information about costs prior to 2017, please let us know.
