Dear Will Maynard
Official Information Act request regarding the World Economic Forum and Digital ID
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on
14 October 2022. You requested:
“Has New Zealand got any draft copies, signed/confirmed copies or in discussion with
the World Economic Forum (WEF) for Digital ID?
If there is a confirmed contract how much has been invested?
Is New Zealand participating in the World Economic Forums KTDI pilot Program
(Known Traveler Digital ID)?”
New Zealand has not engaged with the World Economic Forum (WEF) on the topic of
Digital ID. I can also confirm that New Zealand is not participating in the WEF’s pilot
programme Known Traveller Digital ID.
I am therefore refusing your request under section 18(g)(i) of the Act, as the information is
not held by this agency, and we have no grounds to believe that the information is held by
another department.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
This response may be published on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s
website during our regular publication cycle. Typically, information is released monthly, or as
otherwise determined. Your personal information including name and contact details will be
removed for publication.
Yours sincerely
