Dear Harkirat,

Thank you for your emails to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment requesting, under
the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the fol owing:

Request 2223-0757 received 13 October 2022

1: For  the  Parent  category EOIs that  are  sitting  in the  pool.  Please  provide month by  month
breakdown based on the date received along with person count. I.e. For the Parent category
EOI's and applicants that are currently waiting in the pool, how many of them were received
based on month and year. As an example. For the ones currently in pool, immigration received
70 EOI with 100 applicants in February 2012. March 2012 = 30 EOI with 40 applicants and so on
til  now.

2: For the Parent category EOIs that are sitting in the pool. How many of them have been updated
to new category (October 2022) requirements Please provide month by month breakdown based
on the original EOI date received along with person count. I.e For the Parent category EOI's and
applicants  that  are  currently  waiting  in  the  pool,  how  many  EOIs  have  been  updated  by
applicants to new category (October 2022) based on original received month and year. As an
example, in February 2012 received 70 EOIs with 100 applicants out of which 20 EOIs with 35
applicants have been updated and resubmitted by applicants. March 2012 received 30 EOIs with
40 applicants out of which 10 EOIs with 15 applicants have been updated and resubmitted by
applicants.

where EOIs were received on or before 13 July 2016 and have been updated by the applicants
since 12 October 2022.

We sincerely apologise for the delay in providing this information.

For the Parent category EOIs that are sitting in the pool. Please provide month by month breakdown
based on the date received along with person count.
As at 13 December 2022, there were 6,581 Expressions of Interest (EOI) in the Parent Resident Visa pool,
representing 10,311 applicants.

Please refer to Table One in the attached Appendix for the number of Parent Resident Visa EOIs in the
pool as at 13 December 2022, broken down by month accepted.

For the Parent category EOIs that are sitting in the pool. How many of them have been updated to
new category (October 2022) requirements. Please provide month by month breakdown based on the
original EOI date received along with person count.
Please refer to Table Two in the Appendix for the number of Parent Resident Visa EOIs in the pool as at
13 December 2022, which have been updated since 12 October 2022, broken down by month accepted.

An update to an EOI includes a change to any information contained within the EOI, such as contact
details, passport details, sponsor, or a principal applicant and a secondary applicant swapping places.
When such a change is made to an EOI in Immigration New Zealand’s (INZ) Application Management
System (AMS), the EOI is modified and the action is recorded. Please note it is only the modification that
is recorded and not what the actual change is.

Please provide count of Parent category EOIs and count of applicants currently in the pool, where EOIs
were received on or before 13 July 2016
As at 13 December 2022, 2,154 EOIs in the Parent Resident Visa category pool were accepted on or
before 13 July 2016, representing 3,498 applicants.

Please provide count of Parent category EOIs and count of applicants currently in the pool, where EOIs
were received on or before 13 July 2016 and have been updated by the applicants since 12 October
2022.
Please refer to Table Three in the Appendix for the number of Parent Resident Visa EOIs in the pool as
at 13 December 2022, which were lodged and accepted on or before 13 July 2016 and have been
updated since 12 October 2022, broken down by month accepted. As stated above, an update to an EOI
can include a change to any information contained within the EOI.
