Dear Shanna
Official Information Request
Our Ref: OIA 2022-0160
I refer to your official information request received on 8 October 2022 where you asked the following:
“Regarding companies and organisations who are contracted by the government to provide
services to the public- how many of these workers are being paid less than the 1 September 2022
Living wage of $23.65?”
Our response
Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission (the Commission) does not hold this information for the
whole of the Public Service. You would need to request this information directly from each individual
agency you are seeking the information from. Accordingly, we are refusing your request under
section 18(e) of the Official Information Act 1982 on the grounds that the information requested is not
held by the Commission.
In respect of the Commission, we have no contractors employed by the Commission who are being
paid less than the 1 September 2022 living wage rate of $23.65 per hour.
If you wish to discuss this decision with us, please feel free to contact
