Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 4 October, in which you 
asked: 
1. The Amount of Non sworn employees NZP employee
2. The amount of sworn officers NZP employ
3. The total number of sworn and non sworn staff NZP employ.
Please note that where I refer to “sworn officers” I am referring to those officers that 
hold constabulary power. 
The table below shows the number of active staff currently employed by New Zealand 
Police as at 30 September 2022. Constabulary numbers include Authorised Officers and 
Temporary Sworn staff but not casual staff, contractors, staff on Leave-Without-Pay or 
other police employees (non-sworn).
