Your Official Information Act request, reference H2022013709
Thank you for your request, which was transferred from Manatū Hauora (the Ministry of Health) to
Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand (Te Whatu Ora) on 7 October 2022 for information relating to
Te Whatu Ora IT and digital projects. Your request has been considered under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act). You requested the fol owing:
“Please provide a list of digital and information technology projects, initiatives, programmes of
work (referred to a projects below) that have been stopped, paused or delayed since 1st July 2022.
For each project please provide:
- title of project
- summary of project objectives
- budget approved (or if unapproved, expected budget required)
- stage project is current at
- reason for delay
- districts impacted
- whether districts impacted support the delay, pause or stopping of the project
- whether Te Whatu Ora intends to resume the project
- person, group or entity stopping, delaying or pausing the project
A review is currently underway of data and digital investment across Te Whatu Ora, which we expect wil
be concluded by the end of the year. The review is considering every investment to make
recommendations to the Chief of Data and Digital including what activity should be paused or stopped. At
the current stage of the review, the national office of Te Whatu Ora and Chief Data and Digital have not
made any decision to pause, stop or delay any digital and information technology projects, initiatives, or
programmes of work. As such, your request is refused under section 18(e) of the Act, on the grounds that
the information you have requested does not exist.
Al activity across the motu that was in progress continues, while it is considered how to unify and simplify
our approach across data and digital investment, to maximise value across the health system, focus on
delivering across areas identified as critical in line with the strategy reform goals, government policy and Te
Pae Tata, the interim New Zealand Health plan.
