HP REQUEST FOR NON-DISCLOSURE OF HP USER GUIDE and TRAINING
MATERIALS 5th NOVEMBER, 2014
Hewlett-Packard (HP) requests exemption from the public release of HP user guides and training
materials on the basis that these materials are proprietary and business confidential property, the
release of which would unreasonably disadvantage HP.
HP requests that this exemption be granted on the basis of compliance with New Zealand
Legislation, Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987, where, under Section
7 (2)(b), withholding certain information is appropriate where disclosure of such information:
(i): would disclose a trade secret.
(ii): would be likely unreasonable to prejudice the commercial position of the person who
supplied or is the subject of the information.
The disclosure of the HP User guides and training materials would prejudice the commercial
interests of HP by revealing sensitive, proprietary and competition-sensitive information about the
HP software and the underlying architecture and operation of the HP software platform.
