Request for information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 19 September 2022, in
which you asked:
I am requesting the number of police employed by NZ Police since 2017. To
clarify, I am requesting the number of Police employed in NZ at 31 December
2017, and the numbers employed yearly to date. I would also like to know the net
gain or loss in Police employed in NZ since that date (i.e., the number hired less
the number who have left the police for whatever reason). I need no details other
than the number.
The table below shows the number of active constabulary employed by New Zealand
Police between 2017 and 2022. Constabulary numbers include authorised officers and
temporary sworn staff but not casual staff, contractors, staff on leave-without-pay or other
police employees (non-sworn).
