I am writing concerning your OIA request below.  
 
“I am requesting all communications through your office as Minister of Foreign Affairs 
requesting all communications regarding the appointment of Rt Hon Trevor Mallard as 
ambassador to Ireland.  
 
This includes but is not limited to: 
- Communications regarding a diplomatic Visa 
- Communications regarding the reason for a hold up or delay in the appointment of the 
Rt Hon Trevor Mallard as ambassador to Ireland.”  
 
We  will  need  to  extend  the  time  limit  for  responding  to  you  by  20  working  days,  to 
10 November 2022.  This  is  because  consultations  necessary  to  make  a  decision  on  your 
request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time 
frame (section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA refers). 
 
However, if this process is completed before 10 November 2022, the response will be sent to 
you as soon as possible.  
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision by
