Information Request – Communications with Police regarding strike action
I refer to your official information request dated 29 August 2022 asking for the following
information
.
Please provide all written correspondence between Fire and Emergency and New Zealand
Police regarding the taking of 111 during the NZPFU strike action.
Please also include any internal emails involving the communication centre managers
referring to the New Zealand Police taking 111 calls on behalf of Fire and Emergency New
Zealand.
In accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982 (“OIA”), a decision has been
made to provide the information you requested. Please note, some information will be withheld
from the documents provided to you under the fol owing sections of the OIA:
− section 9(2)(a), to protect the privacy of people identified in the information. We do not
consider that there is a public interest in the release of the information which outweighs
withholding it.
− Section 9(2)(c), to avoid prejudice to measures protecting the health or safety of members
of the public
− section 9(2)(g)(i), to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free and
frank expression of opinions by or between or to Ministers of the Crown or members of an
organisation or officers and employees of any public service agency or organisation in the
course of their duty.
− Section 9(2)(j), to enable a Minister of the Crown or any public service agency or
organisation holding the information to carry on, without prejudice or disadvantage,
negotiations (including commercial and industrial negotiations).
We will provide the information as soon as it is prepared for release, no later than 28 October
2022.
