Official Information Act request relating to the Prime Minister’s response 
regarding OIAs that are answered on time 
 
Thank  you  for  your  request  made  under  the  Official  Information  Act  1982  (the  Act), 
received on 23 August 2022.  
 
You have requested: 
 
“Today,  (23rd  August  2022)  the  Prime  Minister  stated  during 
Question  Time  that  97%  of  Official  Information  Act  requests  are 
answered  on  time.  Under  the  Official  Information  Act  1982,  I  am 
requesting  all  documentation  that  the  Department  of  Prime 
Minister  and  Cabinet  holds  to  suggest  that  the  Prime  Minister's 
claim is accurate. Alternatively, I request the % of OIA requests in 
the  last  year  that  have  been  completed  during  the  legal  time 
frame.” 
 
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet does not hold information relating to 
your  request.  I  believe  that  such  information  is  held  by  the  Prime  Minister,  Rt  Hon 
Jacinda Ardern. Accordingly, I have decided under section 14(b)(i) of the Act to transfer 
your request to the Prime Minister. 
 
The Prime Minister has the usual timeframes under the Act from receipt of this transfer 
to make a decision on your request.
