Request for Information – Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act
(LGOIMA) 1987
We refer to your official information request dated 19 August 2022, for the following:
… communications from Jo Miller to Stuff/Dompost which resulted in the correction at the end
of the 1 August 2022 article "What's going on in Hutt City?", about Jo Miller's involvement with
the Labour Party.
Jo Mil er’s personal affiliations and memberships are private matters, and any
communications she has had with Stuff/Dompost about them were undertaken in a personal
capacity. Accordingly, all information relevant to your request is withheld under section
7(2)(a) of the LGOIMA, to protect the privacy of natural persons.
Section 7(1) of the LGOIMA requires that we consider whether this ground for withholding the
information is outweighed by other considerations which render it desirable, in the public
interest, to make that information available. We have considered this and have determined
that no matters exist that would make it desirable for the information to be made available on
grounds of public interest.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
Please note that this letter may be published on the Council’s website.
