Official Information Act request for written complaints to the Prime Minister’s 
office as well as their staff details 
 
Thank  you  for  your  request  made  under  the  Official  Information  Act  1982  (the  Act), 
received on 12 August 2022. Your request was: 
 
“I) Are there any written complaints received by your office on December 18th 
2021 from any MP or their office ? If yes, please receive all communications 
associated with it. 
II) Total number of complaints received in December 2021 
III) What is the total number of staff at the PMO currently and what are their 
designations and job descriptions ?(don't need names or private information) 
IV) Who hires the staff at the PMO ? Is there a hiring committee or does the Hon 
PM does chooses her own staff ? 
V) Who was the Chief of Staff at the PMO in Dec 2021 and who is the current 
Chief of Staff?” 
 
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet does not hold information relating to 
your  request.  I  believe  the  information  on  complaints  requested  in  your  first  two 
questions  is  held  by  the  Prime  Minister,  Rt  Hon  Jacinda  Ardern.  Staff  information 
relating to the Prime Minister’s office, requested in your third, fourth and fifth questions 
is held by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department).  
 
Accordingly, I have decided under section 14(b)(i) of the Act to transfer questions one 
and two to the Prime Minister and questions three, four and five to the Department.  
 
The Prime Minister and the Department have the usual timeframes under the Act from 
receipt of this transfer to make a decision on your request.
