Thank you for your Official Information Act (Act) request received by the Department of Internal
Affairs (Department) on 2 August 2022.
You requested –
would like to request information about the number of online and paper New Zealand
Citizenship applications received and processed by the Department of Internal Affairs in
the months of June 2021, July 2021, August 2021, September 2021, October 2021,
November 2021, and December 2021 in the following format:

In response to your request, I can provide you with the following information.
Please see the Appendix A attached alongside this letter. Appendix A includes Table A:
Citizenship by Grant online applications from Jun 2021 to Dec 2021 broken down into month
received, unassigned, processing, approved and withdrawn. Table B shows Citizenship by Grant
paper applications from June 2021 to Dec 2021 broken down into month received, unassigned,
processing, approved and withdrawn. Both tables are current as of 11 August 2022.
As this information may be of interest to other members of the public, the Department has
decided to proactively release a copy of this response on the DIA website. All requestor data,
including your name and contact details, will be removed prior to release. The released
