Official Information Act request: All times “Whangārei” is mentioned in Cabinet
papers from date beginning 26 October 2017
Thank you for your Official Information Act request, transferred in part to me from the
Cabinet Office on 24 August 2022. You requested:
“Al documents and Cabinet papers mentioning Whangārei in relation to infrastructure
and health funding decisions from the date beginning October 2017.”
My office only holds records of Cabinet papers from 6 November 2020 in my capacity as
Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Minister for the Digital Economy and
Communications, Minister for State Owned Enterprises, Minister of Statistics and Minister
Responsible for the Earthquake Commission. Any information in scope of your request in the
time period of 26 October 2017 to 5 November 2020 in my capacity as Minister of Health
and Associate Minister of Finance is more likely to be held by the Ministry of Health and the
Treasury.
With respect to any information in scope of your request from 6 November 2020, I have
decided to refuse your request under section 18(e) of the Official Information Act 1982, as
the information does not exist. If I believe the information is more closely held by another
Minister or agency, I am obliged to transfer the request, However, I understand your request
has already been transferred to the Ministry of Health and the Treasury by the Cabinet
Office.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
