RESPONSE TO AN OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT REQUEST

On 24 August 2022, Cabinet Office partially transferred a request to the Ministry for Pacific
Peoples (MPP) in which you requested, under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), the
following information:

All documents and Cabinet papers mentioning Whangārei in relation to infrastructure and
health funding decisions from the date beginning October 2017.

I understand Cabinet Office also transferred this to several other agencies and Ministers. I am
providing you with MPP’s response.

Prior to partially transferring this request to MPP, Cabinet Office completed a search for relevant
Cabinet papers; as a result of their search, they identified the following two MPP papers that were
potentially within scope of your request:

1.  All-of-Government Pacific Wellbeing Strategy
2.  Pacific Employment Action Plan – Prosperous Pacific Communities

We have reviewed these two papers and can confirm they are not within scope of your request.
In addition, we have completed a search of all other MPP Cabinet papers and found no other
papers in scope of your request. I must therefore refuse your request under section 18(e) of the
OIA as the information requested does not exist.

However, if you are interested in the two Cabinet papers referenced, they are publicly available
on our website. I have provided the links for you above.

In line with standard OIA practice, the Ministry proactively publishes its responses to OIA
requests. As such, this letter will be published on the Ministry for Pacific Peoples’ website. Your
personal details will be removed, and the Ministry will not publish any information that would
identify you or your company.

Should you wish to discuss this response with us, please feel free to contact the Ministry at:
[email address].
