Request made under the Official Information Act 1982 
 
Thank you for your email of 16 June 2022 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
Please could you provide a copy of all confirmed board minutes from this calendar year ie the 
meetings that have taken place on Wednesday 2 March and Thursday 21 April. I would assume 
that minutes of the Wednesday 25 May meeting are out of scope as they have yet to be 
confirmed. 
 
Before the Board meeting minutes can be made publicly available, they must be: 
•  confirmed, ratified, and approved at a subsequent standard Board meeting 
•  checked to determine the nature and extent of the Minutes that will be withheld (and thus 
redacted) - noting this step can involve consultation with a number of relevant persons within 
Waka Kotahi 
•  approved for publication (with or without redactions, as considered appropriate) 
 
The minutes from the March and April 2022 Board meetings are currently undergoing the above 
process and will be published online in late July 2022 at: www.nzta.govt.nz/ about-us/about-waka-
kotahi-nz-transport-agency/our-board/board-meeting-minutes/.  
 
The time taken to complete the noted process will depend on the range of subject matter covered by 
the minutes in question, and the number of individuals who need to be consulted ahead of their 
publication. Therefore, I am refusing your request under section 18(d) of the Act because the 
information requested will soon be publicly available.  
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
