I refer to your email of 11 June 2022 via fyi.org.nz requesting the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA).
The following part of your request was transferred to us on 12 July 2022 from the Department
of Internal Affairs (DIA) as the information you have requested is more closely connected to the
functions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT):
Disarmament Education United Nations Implementation Fund (DEUNIF)
Can you please provide the name for current member of above Crown funded schemes
listed. Bio and term of appointment (expired date for each member) for each members of
each schemes if available. Also, member's pay rate and how did you call for public
expression of interest to these roles.
You mentioned "Funds are distributed on the recommendations or decisions of
independent panels, steering groups or committees." Can you please explain what do you
mean by that? Does each funds listed above have separate independent panels, steering
groups and committees?
Background
The Disarmament Education United Nations Implementation Fund (DEUNIF) is a Crown fund
administered by DIA. DIA makes DEUNIF grant decisions on the basis of recommendations from
the Public Advisory Committee on Disarmament and Arms Control (PACDAC), an independent
committee of experts established by the New Zealand Nuclear Free Zone, Disarmament and
Arms Control Act 1987. In terms of Crown fund disbursement, PACDAC’s recommendations are
confined to DEUNIF. MFAT serves as the secretariat of PACDAC.
PACDAC membership, member biographies, term of appointment, and pay rate
We are refusing your request for names of current PACDAC members, their biographies, term of
appointment, and pay rates under section 18(d) of the OIA, as this information is already
publicly available. We have provided links to this information below.
The current members of PACDAC, their term of appointment, and pay rate can be found on the
MFAT website here
