Thanks Christine,
We raised this with the commissioners and I have also forwarded the email trail to Neale Jones. It is worthwhile though
for it to be raised with the Commissioners again.
Cheers

Hi Brigid,
Thanks for the update.  Agree it is concerning that it is taking so long.
We do have opportunity with Commissioners meeting with Ministers over the next few months to raise it
and also Anne could connect with local MP’s to try and push it along.   Alister – do you want to see what
you can find out on this and then I can raise with our Commissioners.
Cheers CJ

Hi CJ and Alister
Please see below, after considerable radio silence from DOC. This makes me a bit nervous. Alister –
would it be worth seeing what info Neale may be able to glean?

Thanks for your email…and phone message.
As an update, the material provided by TCC was indeed being reviewed by DOC Legal, but has
subsequently been referred to the Crown Law Office.
Our Chief Legal Advisor is staying connected to this, so I would anticipate he will look to keep things
moving as quickly as possible…he asked for an estimate of timeframe to review.
I will be in touch.

Good afternoon David.
I am just following up regarding any progress on the Marine Park matter, I have been requested to
provide an update but I am not sure if your legal team is still reviewing or if it has been assigned to an
SLM advisor?
If at all possible, an indication on timeframe would be much appreciated.
As always, happy to discuss this further and I hope you enjoy your week.

Thank you for your email.
We have commissioned an updated study of the ramps and use of the wider area, to confirm the earlier
study done by Xyst. It confirms the position that there is very little recreational use of the area subject to
revocation and that the observed use is mostly associated with vehicles in adjoining zones. An excerpt of
the executive summary: “There appears to be little active recreational use of the grassed area at Marine
Park considering its size. Most people observed were associated with vehicles in Zones 2, 3 and 4”.
Happy to discuss further, and if you need anything please let me know.
Have a great week.

Kia ora Gert,
David Griffin has just informed me you didn’t receive a formal acknowledgement for this application –
for which I apologise.
We have received your email with the application, attachments A, B and C, and the second email with
Attachment D.
There are some matters regarding the application we need to check with our legal team. As soon as we
have that info, the application can be assigned to an SLM advisor to deal with and they will contact you
with a timeframe and cost estimate.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Regards
Anna

Subject: Resubmission of application to revoke reserve status: Marine Park
Good morning.
Greetings from Tauranga City Council’s Strategic Investment team.
Attached is a resubmission of council’s application to revoke a portion of Marine Park’s reserve status. It
is supported by legal advice and some additional attachments.
Please read this in conjunction with the original application dated 3 October 2019, however, if you need
any documents or more information just let me know.
We would appreciate confirmation of receipt of this communication. Attachment D will be sent separately
as it is too large to be sent with Attachments A – C.
Happy to discuss further, and if you need anything regarding this, please let me know
