INFORMATION REQUEST – Sulphur Point: Communications between Tauranga City
Council Commissioners, CE or GM Strategy and Growth and University of Waikato

We write in response to your email dated 26 May 2022 in which you requested the following
information:
I kindly request meetings notes and any communications between the any of
TCC CEO Marty Grenfell, TCC General Manager S&G Christine Jones, the
commissioners and any representatives of Waikato University since 01 Jan
2021 relating to:
- the proposed reclassification or revocation of reserve status of land at
Sulphur Point
- any assessment of alternatives sites or plans

The Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (“LGOIMA”) requires that
we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day
we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we
are writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to Wednesday 6
July 2022.

This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a decision on your
request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time
limit.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
