Information Request – Board Minutes from 1 January 2019 
 
I refer to your official information request dated 25 April 2022 asking for meeting minutes of the 
Fire and Emergency New Zealand Board from 1 January 2019 to the date of your request. 
 
On 22 May 2022, we wrote to you advising of an extension to the timeframe for deciding on your 
request due to the consultations that were needed. 
 
Your request has been assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act 
1982 (“OIA”).  A decision has been made to release the minutes to you with some redactions made 
in accordance with section 9 of the OIA.  We do not consider that there is a countervailing public 
interest in the redacted information that outweighs the reasons to withhold the information. 
 
I enclose the Board meeting minutes covering the period 29 March 2019 to 2 September 2019.  
The remaining minutes are being prepared for release and will be provided to you in tranches at 
the earliest possible time. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
