I refer to your email, which we received on  20  April  2022, requesting information about 
Auckland Council's preliminary response to the National Policy Statement on Urban 
Development and Resource Management. 
 
The specific details of your request and our response are below: 
 
“Please send me Auckland Council's preliminary response to the National Policy Statement 
on  Urban Development and Resource Management and any draft versions that were 
produced.” 
 
The council’s preliminary response to the National Policy Statement on Urban Development 
and recent amendment to the Resource Management can be viewed at Government’s new 
housing rules: what it means for Auckland | AK Have Your Say (aucklandcouncil.govt.nz) The 
council did not produce a draft of its preliminary response.  
 
The decision by Auckland Council to release the information contained in this response was 
made by John Duguid – General Manager Plans and Places.  
 
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to your request, you 
have the right in accordance with section 27(3) of the LGOIMA to make a complaint to the 
Office of the Ombudsman to seek an investigation and review of the decision.
