I refer to your request of 19 April 2022, under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), 
regarding the vaccination status of New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) personnel and 
employees, as follows: 
I would like a summary of the current COVID-19 vaccination status of the NZDF, both Civilian 
employees, service members (Regular Force), and combined totals for both. 
Please also provide each of the below as both a the actual number of people and as a 
percentage figure (%); (Please provide the information displayed in tables, as a PDF file). 
Please supply the actual number of: 
Total number of Civilian Employees of the NZDF. 
Civilian employees - Non-vaccinated. 
Civilians employees - Partially vaccinated, one shot. 
Civilians employees - Vaccinated, received two shots (Pfizer vaccine). 
Civilians employees - Boosted (3rd shot). 
Total number of NZDF Service Members (Regular Force). 
Service Members - Non-vaccinated. 
Service Members - Partially vaccinated, one shot. 
Service Members - Vaccinated, received two shots (Pfizer vaccine). 
Service Members - Boosted (received 3rd shot). 
Service Members - Boosted (received 4th shot if any). 
Thirdly, please also proved above service members vaccination numbers broken down by 
service; Army Navy Airforce. 
The NZDF does not hold all of the information requested and therefore cannot provide the 
information in the format requested. For instance, the NZDF does not hold the relevant 
health information for civilian staff. This part of your request is therefore declined in 
accordance with section 18(e) of the OIA. 
Information on the total number of civilian staff and Regular Force personnel is publicly 
available in the NZDF Annual Report,1 and in reporting provided to the Foreign Affairs

Defence and Trade Select Committee.2 This part of your request is therefore declined in 
accordance with section 18(d) of the OIA. 
The NZDF holds the following information regarding the vaccination status of Regular Force 
personnel: 
Vaccination Status 
Green: have met the baseline requirement of a completed primary course (2 doses) and 
booster. 
Amber: have completed a primary course, still due for a booster but not yet overdue (noting 
that the due date is 6 months from the end of the primary course, or 90 days after 
documented COVID-19 infection). 
Red: either have not completed a primary course, or overdue for booster after primary 
course.
