Information Request – Local Advisory Committee 
 
I refer to your official information request dated 18 March 2022 in which you requested a copy of 
the evaluation report for the establishment of the Local Advisory Committees (LACs) as well as an 
update as to the current progress of establishing the LACs. 
 
The report has been published on the Fire and Emergency website and is available at 
https://www.fireandemergency.nz/local-advisory-committees/lac-evaluation-report/. 
  
We do not have a timeframe for the rollout of any additional LACs at the moment. This is because 
Fire and Emergency is taking the necessary steps to ensure that the LAC operating model is robust, 
fit for purpose, and functioning well and as legislatively intended before establishing additional 
LACs. While the Year One evaluation has been completed, we are now making changes as needed 
to the operating model to address areas highlighted in the evaluation.    
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
