Official Information Act Request  
On 7 March 2022 you sent a request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 
to the Ministry of Health (reference H202203650), who transferred your request to ESR on 
25 March 2022. The request transferred to ESR was as follows:   
As of Monday March 7th, I would like to know how many cases of the Delta variant are 
currently being treated in hospital, and if possible, a breakdown by DHB. 
Our response to your request 
As of Monday March 7th, I would like to know how many cases of the Delta variant are 
currently being treated in hospital, and if possible, a breakdown by DHB. 
ESR does not know how many delta cases remained in hospital on 7 March 2022.  
ESR identified 13 Delta cases that are recorded as hospitalised in EpiSurv1 since January 
this year although the discharge dates have only been entered for 3 cases.   
Of the remaining ten cases with no discharge date there was 1 in Capital and Coast, 2 Bay 
of Plenty, 1 Lakes, 2 Hawkes Bay, 3 Waitemata and 1 Waikato.
