Dear Seth

Response to your request for official information

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) which was
transferred to my Office by the Ministry of Health on 16 February 2022. You requested:

“I request from the 2021 calendar year, policies and advice received and sent by the
Minister of Health's office, regarding policy and procedure towards consideration of
governmental or ministerial best interest, public opinion, and transparency, in
responding to OIA requests received and media enquiries, including the granting of
interviews.”

The Act guides all my responses to requests for official information (including where an
enquiry is made by media for official information), underpinned by its central principle that
information should be made available unless there are good reasons under the Act to
withhold it. No information has been identified within scope of your request and therefore
your request is refused under section 18(e) on the grounds that the information sought does
not exist.

Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.

Yours sincerely

Hon Andrew Little
Minister of Health
