(DOC), received on 21 June 2022 in which you asked for: 
Please supply all information relating to any assessment that may or may not have 
been undertaken for the purpose of the Stewardship Lands Review for the following 
parcel: 
 
Part Section 106 Wainuiomata District, 18,356 m2 WN20C/1390 
Please also supply all information relating to the right of first refusal reference for this 
title, including any correspondence or assessments related to this provision. 
And,  Please supply all information relating to any assessment under the Stewardship 
Lands Review for the following parcel: 
Part Section 115 Harbour District and Section 2, 4 Survey Office Plan 427901, 
435,578 m2 title: 531466  
I regret that I am not able to provide you with the information you’ve requested. 
In May 2021 the Government announced its plans to speed up the stewardship land 
reclassification programme by establishing two national panels and undertaking legislative 
amendments to ensure that the process for reclassifying stewardship land is fit-for-purpose. 
The stewardship land reclassification programme began on the West Coast of the South 
Island. 
DOC carried out technical assessments of the stewardship land present on the West Coast, 
producing conservation values reports to inform the recommendations on revised land 
classifications made by the National and Mana Whenua Panels. These reports can be found 
on the DOC website here: Documents supporting stewardship land reclassification: 
Stewardship land. 
The Western South Island National and Mana Whenua Panels have finished their immediate 
assessments and have publicly notified their recommendations on revised land 
classifications. This includes recommendation reports justifying each recommendation which 
can be found on the DOC website here: Documents supporting stewardship land

reclassification: Stewardship land. The notification period for these recommendations closes 
on 26 July 2022.  
Given the current focus of this work is on the West Coast, no assessments have yet been 
undertaken by DOC on the specific parcels you have referenced above. Similarly, no 
research has yet be undertaken relating to the right of first refusal reference for these areas. 
You are entitled to seek an investigation and review of my decision by writing to an 
Ombudsman as provided by section 28(3) of the Of icial Information Act.
