Dear Lui Lam

Request made under the Official Information Act 1982

Thank you for your email of 24 January 2022 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):

I am writing to request for street camera footage on the date 19/01/2022 between the
times of 5pm - 5:30pm on the Te atatu on ramp. Entry 14 te atatu road, heading towards
Lincoln road. I have been in a car accident & hit very hard from behind from another
vehicle and without much conversation as to what had happened he sped off right and
was unable to get his details or license plate. […]

If you need Police to retrieve the footage from AT then please let me know so I can inform
them. We have already reported this incident but need more information.

On 25 January 2022 we emailed you and requested that you clarify further details about the vehicle
you were driving at the time of the incident, details of the other vehicle(s) involved and the Police
file/reference number.

As we have not had a response from you, any footage has been withheld because of privacy concerns
about another individual(s). I am therefore withholding your request under section 9(2)(a) of the Act to
protect the privacy of natural persons, including that of deceased natural persons.

We also do not consider that it is appropriate to publish footage on a public forum such as fyi.org.nz.
While I am unable to provide you with the footage requested, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency
would consider releasing footage to NZ Police for the purpose of investigating an alleged offence.

Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
this request. The contact details for the Ombudsman can be located at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.

If you would like to discuss your request further with Waka Kotahi, including about whether the footage
can be released to you directly, please contact us by email to [email address].

Yours sincerely
