Information Request – Fire and Emergency call outs 2019 - 2022
I refer to your official information request to New Zealand Police dated 21 January 2022 which was
transferred in part to Fire and Emergency New Zealand on 27 January 2022 asking for the
following information.
“…provide the call outs that Fire and Emergency attended in 2019, 2020, 2021 and
2022 (to date) for cardiac events in the age group 0 – 20…”
Your request has been assessed in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and it is
necessary to decline your request under Section 18(g) of the OIA, as the information requested is
not held by Fire and Emergency and we have no grounds for believing the information is held by
another organisation subject to the OIA.
When responding to emergency medical call-outs, Fire and Emergency are not the lead agency. As
such any age related information is passed on to the attending Ambulance organisation and not
recorded by Fire and Emergency. You may wish to contact St John and the Wel ington Free
Ambulance for information regarding emergency ambulance calls.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
