1. ORGANISATIONAL UPDATES  
New Zealand 
  Under the Direct Access Agreement (the Agreement) between 
Security 
Customs and the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service entered 
Intelligence 
under the Intelligence and Security Act 2017, a review of the 
Service CusMod 
operation of the Agreement must be completed every three years. 
Direct Access 
The review was completed in March 2020.

Agreement 
update 
  As part of the review, the Inspector-General of Intelligen
Act 
ce and 
Security and the Privacy Commissioner were consulted. Following 
the Review, Ministers jointly agreed and approved that Customs, 
and the Security Intelligence Service would amend and update the 
Agreement.  
  Customs and Security Intelligence Service officials have been 
working on updating the Agreement, which has included further 
consultation with the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security 
and the Privacy Commissioner.
