[FYI request #18237 email]
Tēnā koe Nic
Thank you for your email of 19 January 2022 requesting the following information under
the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“
I'd like to know how the current alternative formats: audio, braille, Easy Read, large
print, and New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) were decided upon, and signed off.”
I am unable to fulfil your request, as the Department does not hold the information you
have requested. This decision is in line with section 18(g) of the Act.
Alternate formats allow disabled people to experience the same level of service offered
to the rest of the community. While digital.govt.nz includes guidance on alternate
formats, decisions about the formats themselves are made by the Alternate Formats
Group, administered by the
Accessibility team at the Ministry of Social Development.
We have forwarded your request to the appropriate team at MSD, who will be in touch
with you in due course.
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act, to seek an investigation and review
of this decision by the Office of the Ombudsman. Information is available on the
website www.ombudsman.parliament.nz. Alternatively, you can phone 0800 802 602
or email [email address].
Nāku noa, nā
