I refer to your official information request dated 29 August 2022 asking for a copy of the Incident 
Report for OIA-F3549891 - 62a Young Street St Kilda Dunedin. 
 
In accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982 (“OIA”), I enclose the SMS 
Incident Report. Some personal information has been withheld to protect the privacy of natural 
persons under section 9(2)(a) of the OIA. We do not consider that there is a public interest in the 
release of the information which outweighs withholding it. 
 
 
Please note the SMS Incident Report provided to you is generated by Fire and Emergency New 
Zealand’s electronic station management system (SMS Report). In SMS Reports, ‘Notifications’ and 
‘Message Log’ fields are reported in real time as fire crews and our communication centres 
communicate with each other during the incident. They are not the official final records of 
incidents but word for word transcripts of ‘live’ situations as they occur. They may contain spelling 
errors or commonly used abbreviations. 
 
Also of note, the SMS Incident Report is not yet complete. Due to the current industrial action 
undertaken by New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union, it wil  take time to finalise the report. 
However, we have decided to share the report with you as it stands at this time, and this 
document is enclosed. It is possible that information in the report may change, or more 
information may be added, before a final version is generated.
