Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 10 January
2022. I will respond to each part of your request in turn:
1. Till date, How many Omicron cases have been detected at the NZ Border/MIQ?
As at 19th January 2022, there were 376 Omicron cases detected at the New Zealand border.
2. How many of these Omicron cases were symptomatic at the time of detection?
3. How many of these Omicron cases were asymptomatic at the time of detection?
“Unknown” means some data was not available.
4. How many of these Omicron cases needed hospitalisation?
5. How many of these Omicron cases had to be admitted to an ICU?
6. What is the Average recovery time (in days) for the Omicron cases?
In terms of admission and discharge time, the average recovery time for omicron case is three
days.
7. What % of the hospitalized Omicron cases were fully vaccinated (2 doses)?
8. What % of the hospitalized Omicron cases were partially vaccinated (1 dose)?
9. What % of the hospitalized Omicron cases were not vaccinated at all?
Since there are only two hospitalised cases (please refer to the answer to question 4), the
Ministry is unable to provide specific vaccination information due to privacy. Therefore, the
above parts of your request are withheld under section 9(2)(a) of the Act.
