Cost of repainting pedestrian crossings 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings 
Act 1987 (the Act), received on 5 January 2021. You requested the fol owing information: 
•  typical costs of repainting a pedestrian crossing 
•  cost of repainting rainbow crossing. 
 
Wellington City Council has granted your request for information. 
 
The cost to repaint a pedestrian crossing varies depending on the material used, size of the crossing, 
if any traffic management or signage is required. On average the cost of repainting a pedestrian 
crossing is $3,200 excluding GST.  
 
The cost to repaint the rainbow crossing this year is an estimate of $5,314 excluding GST. The total 
cost of the project to repaint the rainbow crossing was $17,716.48 excluding GST. This total cost 
includes materials, labour, traffic management, signage, communication to residents, and security.
