Official Information Act request relating to communications with Ella Yelich-O'Connor 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), received 
on 19 January 2022. You requested: 
 
“Thanks for your reply to my request under the Official Information Act stating that 
you  have  decided  to  transfer  it  to  MBIE.  This  is  not  adequate  as  it  does  not 
answer my key question about communications with DPMC.  
 
Please provide any communications over the last 3 months between Ella Yelich-
O'Connor, also known as Lorde, and/or her representatives to DPMC and/or the 
Prime Minister or the Prime Ministers offices relating to Covid-19, MIQ, isolation 
or any other matters related to Lorde's ability to return to New Zealand.” 
 
I believe that the  request for  “any communications over the last three months between Ella 
Yelich-O’Connor and the Prime Minister or the Prime Ministers Offices relating to Covid-19, 
MIQ, isolation or any other matters related to the Lorde’s ability to return to New Zealand” is 
more closely connected to the functions of the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern.  
 
Accordingly,  I  have  decided  under  section  14(b)(ii)  of  the  Act  to  transfer  this  part  of  your 
request to Prime Minister. The other parts of the request have not been transferred, and I will 
respond in due course. 
 
The  Prime  Minister  has  the  usual  timeframes  under  the  Act  from  receipt  of  this  transfer  to 
make a decision on your request.
