Dear Grace Haden

Thank you for your email of 17 December 2021 requesting the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):

On 5 October members of the Ministry attended a Select Committee meeting. Please
advise who from the ministry attended, what was their role and was it vital, what was the
meeting in regards to what time did the meeting commence and what time did it conclude
when was the meeting scheduled and by whom? Please provide minutes of that meeting.

As you know, the Environment Committee met on 5 October 2021. Ministry for the Environment
officials attended the meeting for the committee’s Inquiry on the Natural and Built Environment
Bill Parliamentary Paper. The meeting was in private session. Ministry officials listed under
"1.3 Consideration" were remote participants in the meeting.

Officials assist committees by providing information about draft legislation and issues associated
with its implementation, commenting on evidence received by the committee, producing
departmental reports on submissions, and making recommendations for amendments.

Attached is a copy of the meeting minutes. These minutes were provided by Select Committee
Services. Please note, some of the content has been refused under section 18(c)(ii) of the Act,
because the making available of the information requested would constitute contempt of the
House of Representatives.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review of this response by the Office of the
Ombudsman, in accordance with section 28(3) of the Act. The relevant details can be found on
