Thank you for your email of 13 December 2021 regarding options for personalised motorcycle plates. 
Your correspondence has been referred to me as these matters fall within my responsibilities as 
Manager, Customer Response. 
 
While Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is responsible for approving new styles of personalised 
plates, requests for these new styles come from KiwiPlates, the current provider of personalised plates 
when they believe these is an adequate market demand. Currently, as KiwiPlates sell a low volume of 
motorcycle plates, they have not sought to introduce the same range of customised styles that you see 
offered for cars. 
 
KiwiPlates have advised it’s unlikely there will be enough demand for them to introduce red or blue 
styles. However, they will continue to review demand for new styles and will consider them as part of 
future product development plans.
