Response to your request for official information Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) on 6 December 2021 for:
“…hopitalisations and death data from July 2021 - December 2021 I'd like it broken down
by the top 10 codes in use.
If this is currently unavailable, then I'd like an ETA on it as it is an important figure to
monitor with a blanket health treatment. I would also like the previously provided 2018,
2019, 2020 and 2021 data broken down by the top 10 codes”
Information within scope of this request is itemised in Appendix 1 of this letter and a copy of the
document is enclosed. The data in Appendix 1 provides the 10 most common hospital
discharges between July 2017 to October 2021, broken down by codes.
Note that counts for the 2021/21 financial year contain only four months of hospitalisations,
between July and October 2021. For all other financial years, the data includes hospitalisations
for 12 months, between 1 July and 30 June.
The most recent cause of death data is available for 2018. Table One provides the ten most
common subgroups, broken down by code, cause of death and the total.
